About Gummi
The person behind the club: an entrepreneur, marketer, author and podcast host who built RedKnight from a website company into a marketing business.
I’m Gudmundur Sigurdarson, but most people call me Gummi. I’m an entrepreneur, marketer, author and podcast host, and the founder of RedKnight.
Where I come from
I grew up in Denmark and Iceland, then came to the United States as an exchange student and became a permanent resident in 2005. My first job was a paper route at age 12 so I could buy a bicycle, and I have been working ever since.
How I got into marketing
Before marketing I worked in farming, landscaping, horse training, cooking and meat processing, then moved into sales and leadership. I opened a restaurant of my own, and it failed. It taught me more about business than anything I had done before, and it is where I stopped calling failure failure and started calling it feedback. That pushed me into the franchise and personal development world, where I worked with large international brands and became a minority owner.
RedKnight
In 2006 I started RedKnight as a website company. It grew into a marketing company, and much of this club comes from the work we do there with real small businesses, along with the business book I am writing and years of sales training. I also spent almost three years as a volunteer SCORE mentor in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, helping people who were starting or running a small business.
